Lego Batman Legacy of the Dark Knight: Escaped Zoo Animal Locations & Interactive Tracking Guide

The Gotham City Zoo had a very bad night, and Escaped Zoo Animals in LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight are the 21 wild animals now hiding across seven of Gotham's open-world districts — loose pythons in construction sites, meerkats in a park, sloths above a subway station, and a tiger by a fountain.

Tagging them with trackers isn't just a completionist checkbox: four reward milestones gate some of the game's most desirable unlocks behind this activity.

All 21 locations, animal counts, and approach tactics are documented in our LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight game maps.

Escaped Zoo Animal Rewards: Four Milestones, Two Suits, One Vehicle

The reward structure runs across four distinct milestones:

  • 6 animals — the First Appearance Batmobile (Batman's 1939 debut car) becomes purchasable from the Batcave Garage for 150,000 Studs. This is the most expensive purchasable Vehicle in the game and can't be bought until this threshold is reached, regardless of Stud count.
  • 9 animalsAbsolute Batman suit unlocks automatically, no purchase needed.
  • 15 animalsBronze Age Batgirl suit unlocks automatically.
  • All 21Gold Skill Brick added to inventory.

When the Activity Fully Unlocks

The first Escaped Zoo Animal encounter — the Polar Bear in Old Gotham South — is mandatory story content during Chapter 2's "On the Prowl" mission with Batman.

The full open-world activity doesn't unlock until completing the "Arctic World" mission with Catwoman shortly after.

Before that point, animal icons won't appear on district maps even after tower activation.
